New Life Assembly of God
Church History

A small group of believers held their first meeting in the home of Elsie Chivers on May 16, 1950.  Later that year, services were held in a tent and then, in 1951, they met at the Milner hotel until a lot could be purchased for a new church to be built.  Property was purchase for $150 on Center Avenue and on April 27, 1953 a new building was dedicated.

In 1956, the church became affiliated with the General council of The Assemblies of God and officially became the Janesville Assembly of God.

In 1969, construction began on a new building on Mt. Zion Avenue and on Easter 1969, 250 people were present in the first service in the new facility.

In 1985, once again new property was purchased on the corner of Wright road and Highway 14, with a new vision to build yet another sanctuary.  In 1986, New Life Assembly was voted in as the official new name.  Thanksgiving Eve 1989 marked the first service in the new building on Wright Road with the dedication taking place in May of 1990.

All these factors help distinguish the uniqueness of New Life Assembly of God.  However, these events mark the characteristics mostly of the church building.  The real church consists of people who worship inside the structure.  They are the real history of New Life Assembly of God.
