A small group of believers held their
first meeting in the home of Elsie Chivers on May 16,
1950. Later that year, services were held in a
tent and then, in 1951, they met at the Milner hotel
until a lot could be purchased for a new church to be
built. Property was purchase for $150 on Center
Avenue and on April 27, 1953 a new building was
dedicated.
In 1956, the church became affiliated with the
General council of The Assemblies of God and
officially became the Janesville Assembly of God.
In 1969, construction began on a new building on
Mt. Zion Avenue and on Easter 1969, 250 people were
present in the first service in the new facility. |
